I wanted to share a brief bio on myself for those of you who do not know me personally.
I have been a resident of Antioch now for 26 years. My wife Christine (Married in May of 2022) and I live in the Pine Hill lakes subdivision. I have two daughters, Brittany (ACHS Class of 2016) and Lauren (ACHS Class of 2018), both of whom graduated from Butler University and are currently residing in the Indianapolis area. Christine has two children, Katie and Matt, who currently live and work around Milwaukee.
I was born and raised in Schiller Park, IL. I graduated from East Leyden HS in 1985 and continued my education, first at Northern Illinois University, where I studied Political Science and Business, then completing my degree at Elmhurst University. While attending college I was a member of the wrestling teams and was also a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity.
I have worked in the logistics field for over 32 years. I am currently the Logistics and Trade Compliance Manager for a manufacturer of food processing equipment. In this role I am responsible for the movement, internationally and domestically, of millions of dollars’ worth of goods. I owned and operated a successful small business, selling and shipping building materials to projects worldwide.
I was raised in a family that believes public service is honorable and a terrific way of giving back to your community. My grandfather, Edward E. Bluthardt, Sr served as the Village President in Schiller Park for 32 years and was also an Illinois State Representative for 16 years. My father, Edward “Sparky” Bluthardt Jr, served as a police officer for over 27 years and as an elected County Board Member for 12 years. My mother served on our local school board as well as the elected Township Clerk in Leyden Township, before ending her career as the Director of Aging for Vilas County. My brother, Dan, served in a variety of roles in Springfield, but prior to his death was the Director of the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation. Regretfully both of my parents have passed since my election in 2021.
I have done my best to honor this family tradition of public service. I am currently finishing up my first term as Antioch Village Trustee (Elected in April 2021). I was a member of the Board of Education for Antioch District 34, where I was President the final year of my service. I was an elected Precinct Committeeman and had been for 16 years. I served as President of a local political organization. I was a member of the Antioch Environmental Commission and have volunteered for local charities, schools, and community events. I am currently volunteering to help fundraising efforts for the Antioch Veterans Memorial committee.
My hobbies have varied over the years, but currently enjoy spending time on the pontoon, spending quality time with my family and friends, golfing, and most importantly watching my daughters grow into incredible young women.
